Nagas are our own enemies: Wangtin

2017-11-08 Written by Nagaland Page

Sometimes I feel we the Nagas are our own enemies and why our society has been fragmented leading to the bottomless ground is because of our past mistakes. Of course, the occupational forces also played a major destructive role, yet we are responsible for what we are today. Nagaland was a free nation never been under any forces, signing no agreements and treaty with any government surrendering our political right but India has forcibly invaded and kept under their occupation not because we have no right but vested interest in our society betrayed our free nation. Let us learn a lesson from our past mistakes. Adding to the burning wound of fratricidal killings between two NSCNs (NSCN-K and NSCN-IM), another bitterness took its shape in our society after the so-called unification group came out during the last part of 2007 which once again opened up a new chapter of fragmentation and large scale bloodshed. Had not unification group take its wrong path, total unification among different Naga groups could have already been achieved. I still remember when chairman S.S Khaplang openly said unification can be had only with NSCN (IM) and not with a group of people who defected from the mainstream (NSCN IM). So to avoid the cloud of confusion and distrust among the Nagas, the said group has been absorbed in the NSCN fold and allocated important portfolios to the leaders such as kilo, chaplee, and speaker etc. However the said group continued to observe unification anniversary programmes against the direction of the chairman NSCN which was bone of contention and I became first target of the group only because of my firm stand on national principle for total unification of all Naga groups basing on historical and political rights of the Nagas. I physically abandoned Khehoi camp after their secrecy leak for expulsion of Chairman S.S Khaplang to be replaced by Baba Khole. I told some important leaders in Khehoi that I may not come to Khehoi until the leaders in Khehoi apologize to the chairman S.S Khaplang for their misdeeds. I also told Baba Khole not to listen to the betrayal preaching of the few but to stand firm for the nation. However, we could not hold off the betrayal hands on Babas head who finally fell prey to the trap of few selfish leaders which caused our great father gradually forgetting his bosom friend (S.S Khaplang). This was the root cause of the NSCN split in June 2011. I being the small man in the NSCN government body, hence I am nobody in NSCN splitting cause.

Repeating previous statements, I have forgiven in the name of Lord Jesus Christ those who involved in the secret meeting for my elimination just before NSCN split because my comrades knew very well that I would not agree for expulsion of S.S Khaplang, chairman NSCN. General Niki and Mr. Mulatonu also might have involved under compulsion for my proposed assassination but I have no problem with them. I respect General Niki because he is the only young general who will lead the Naga Army in future. Equal respect I have for Mr.Mulatonu because he is the senior most leader firm on Naga sovereignty. Only I want from him is slow down and soften his approach towards other Naga groups, enhancing his personal relationship with Naga NGOs and church leaders. Our freedom fighters should know that Nagaland is a free nation and the issue between India and Nagaland was the former invaded Nagaland country in violation of human rights as there was no agreement or treaty signed between British government and the Naga prople and as such the successive Indian governments has no moral right to forcibly occupy Nagaland. The present Ceasefire between different Naga groups and Government of India has brought down the status of the Naga people so low that, it gives excessive powers to security forces and the Naga people suffered a lot in the hands of Indian army by way of raiding and ransacking offices and houses of the NSCN and even the public houses could not be spared particularly in Kohima and Dimapur. The NSCN under the ablest leadership of S.S Khaplang will never and ever compromise Naga sovereignty under any circumstances. The union of Burma was formed on 5th January 1948 and invited the Nagas to join the newly established Government of Burma but Nagas in Eastern Nagaland refused to join the Burma Government, they have not accepted even statehood till date. Therefore there is no Myanmar Nagas or Indian Nagas because Naga means the identity of Naga nationality as a nation although internationally it has not been recognized.

The NSCN under the leadership of S.S Khaplang, Chairman and general (retired) Khango vice-chairman has no objection over any Naga group decided to have solution within India union in the form of financial packages, development and autonomy of any kind. However, it advises such group not to disturb the Naga national movement for sovereignty because Naga people will not shake from the solid foundation of Simon Commission Memorandum of 1929 blooming its political majority by declaring Naga independence on 14 August 1947 and Naga National plebiscite of 1951. Hence the Government of India should fully understand the ground reality before dealing with Naga issue because dealing with splinter group will not solve the Naga issue as Naga National movement will not die down with any agreement unless all sections of people involved for permanent solution acceptable to the Nagas

Another request to my one time comrades in Khehoi not to further expose their bloody decision for elimination of its own comrades because it only invites condemnation from God and people. Let us not go for blood, the highest level of action should be discharged from national service if one commits constitutional crime against the nation. As stated above, I have forgiven all my comrades whoever involved in secret decision for eliminating me 2 years ago, because God saved all of us. I thank the Almighty God for his wonderful revelation of my comrades secret decision to do away with my life. The God of heaven send his messengers and said Wangtin you have no life as your leaders decided to take your life at least 2 times. The merciful God forewarned me of the dangers from the leaders, hence I have abandoned Khehoi camp. I pray to God that God saved my life from the hands of blood thirsty people as I have not committed any crime against my nation neither I offended anyone except I disagreed to divide between east and west and committed for Naga national cause for sovereignty. I also thank Naga brothers and sisters for unending prayer support for my life in Naga national cause. I will never forsake my nation and my people.
