AIR Kohima Station Director passes away
Dimapur, June 20: Station Director, All India Radio, Kohima, N Nakhro passed away this morning after a prolonged illness. She was 59.
N Nakhro was born on first December 1953. She joined All India Radio, Kohima as Assistant Editor (Script) in 1977. In 1999 she was promoted as Assistant Station Director and then to Deputy Director in 2001 and since then has served as the Head of the Station till date. She has to her credit numerous documentaries and features on Education broadcast and various other programmes which she produced. She was due to retire on October 31, 2013.
Predeceased by her husband late N T Nakhro, she is survived by 2 sons, 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren.
Station Director Engineer in his condolence message said late N. Nakhro was a sincere and dedicated officer. He described her as a strong willed lady for whom no degree of pain or illness could deter her from performing her duty. Her untimely demise is a great loss to All India Radio, Kohima in particular and the people of the State in general, he said. AIR staffs have expressed profound grief over the passing away of N Nakhro.
Condolence meetings were also held in several AIR stations including AIR Shillong, AIR Imphal and AIR Pasighat.
Her mortal remains were taken to Jotsoma for burial.
The chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Public Relations, R.Tohanba, Former President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) K V Pusa Director General All India Radio L D Mandloi and Additional Director General Programme (NER) C Lalrosanga have conveyed their condolences on the demise of the Station Director of All India Radio Kohima.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed grief at the demise of Neichukhono Nakhro, Station Director, All India Radio, Kohima, who passed away this morning.
In a condolence message, Rio said that he had a close association with the family of late Nakhro for many years and her late husband, N T Nakhro was his colleague who worked together during his political career.
Stating that late Nakhro has been a source of strength to her late husband during his political career and also a kind and perfect mother, Rio stated she has served the organization in various capacities and her dedication and honesty made her to reach the position of Station Director.
Though she was sick and on medical treatment for a long time, she was fully committed to her assignments, Rio stated adding her contribution to the organization in which she served would be long remembered.
Stating that her death is an irreparable loss and has created a huge vacuum in the family, particularly among the children, relatives and dear ones, Rio and his wife conveyed deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to give them strength to tide over the irreparable loss.
K V Pusa
MLA and former NPCC president, K V Pusa while expressing grief at the demise of N Nakhro, said that he was not only sincere, dedicated and upright central government officer, but also a loving wife and a woman with full of compassion and sympathy for the needy people in the state.
Pusa said her contribution to the central government and the society would never go in vain but would be remembered in the days to come.
He also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty to grant solace to them and peace to the departed soul.
The Kohima Press Club has expressed its heartfelt condolence at the untimely demise of N.Nakhro, Station Director of Kohima All India Radio (A.I.R) who passed away on Wednesday morning (June 20, 2012) after a prolonged illness. Stating that she was like a friend, who was always ready to help and guide anyone at anytime, the Kohima Press Club in a condolence message has shared its grief with the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty would grant them strength and comfort during this time of sorrow
The Director General in his condolence message said that late Nakhro made valuable contributions to broadcasting in NE region during three decades of her service with the public service broadcasting.
He said, the passing away of Nakhro has left a void in programme production and management of AIR which will be difficult to fill saying that her demise is a great loss to AIR.
In his condolence message, Additional Director General, Lalrosanga said, Nakhro had with dedication and determination managed a multi-dialect radio station like All India Radio Kohima ably and commendably.
The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has expressed grief at the demise of N Nakhro (wife of late NT Nakhro), Station Director, All India Radio (AIR) Kohima who passed away this morning.
DPC said late Nakhro was a harbinger in broadcasting of news to the people and a mentor for all those who came to her life and were touched by her humility and selflessness.
At this moment of grief, the DPC prayed for N Nakhro’s departed soul to rest in peace and that the good Lord grant strength and comfort to the family members.
The Angami Youth Organisation, while expressing shock and grief at the demise of N Nakhro today, said she was not only a prominent figure in the Naga society but also heading a national department as the Station Director of AIR Kohima.
“In her death we have lost a motherly figure and the vacuum created will be difficult to fill,’ the AYO said and prayed to the Almighty to grant strength and solace to the bereaved family members and also eternal peace to the departed soul.
